Barry Garraway is Professor of Quantum Physics at the University of Sussex, UK. After completing his undergraduate degree at Oxford University he received a PhD in quantum optics in Manchester and subsequently undertook postdoctoral study in Helsinki and Imperial College London. He received a Leverhulme research fellowship at Sussex University and was a Directeur de recherche associe au CNRS in 2008. He has worked in the fields of quantum optics and ultra-cold atoms throughout his career, most recently developing the theory and application of adiabatic potentials as well as being involved in recent developments in quantum technology.
