Dr. Andrea Alberti is senior scientist and principal investigator at the University of Bonn. His expertise is in the field of experimental quantum gases. He obtained his doctorate in 2010 at LENS (European Laboratory for Non-Linear Spectroscopy), where he developed novel methods to accurately measure gravity using modulated optical lattices. More recently, he has been working on quantum walks, simulations of topological phases, and fundamental tests of quantum mechanics. His current research interest is in using arrays of ultracold atoms in three-dimensional optical lattices for quantum information processing. He is a former Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellow, is member of the Young Academy in North Rhine-Westphalia, and is the recipient of the Rudolf Kaiser Prize 2017 for a fundamental test of quantum superposition states.
